Our Favorite Wedding And Event Designs Of 2023
As we say a fond farewell to another year, the winter months at Events By Artful Decor, Inc. have always represented something more meaningful than the final days on our calendar. A true moment of reflection, eighteen years in the wedding and special event industry has taught our Creative Team that the end of a chapter in life’s journey will always lead to us a new beginning.
With the first strike of midnight, our Creative Team never could have imagined that the winter wonderland of our first event would lead us to discover the joy to be found around every corner of life’s journey. With each new year came the opportunity to write a new chapter in our dream of designing timeless and elegant events, which would later become the foundation of Events By Artful Decor, Inc.
The start of another chapter for our licensed, bonded and insured business and the closing of 2023, allows us to look back upon the many milestone we shared with our clients, the strengthening of our industry partnerships and the growing inventory within our private warehouse, as we celebrate the spectacular weddings and events our Creative Team had the opportunity to design throughout the year.
As we reflect upon the growth of our company and its branded Design Experience, we in-turn have an opportunity to look inward to find the personal growth within ourselves. Although we never knew all of the twists and turns our intertwining personal and professional journeys would take throughout the year, by relying upon the individual strengths found within each other and our partners, our brand has in turn become stronger and we look forward to the wonderful things 2024 has to offer.

• REPORTING FOR CHRISTMAS •
With the excitement of our first ever movie premiere in the air, our team can finally share what we had been working on last year! Featured on Chicago Today and Katie Couric Media, our team was grateful to work alongside our friends at the Cherry Tree Inn Bed & Breakfast and Nicely Entertainment as one of the set decorators for the film Reporting For Christmas, now available for streaming on Hulu, Google Play, Apple TV and Vudu. Reaching number ten on the most popular streamed movies this year on Hulu, we could not be happier with the final product of this film, which features our decorated Christmas tree, candy bar, mantle, tablescape and other vignettes throughout the Cherry Tree Inn, set in fictional Brunswick, Iowa. We invite you to grab a candy cane and a cup of hot cocoa to watch the film with friends and family this holiday season, which follows reporter Mary Romero (Tamara Feldman of Gossip Girl) as she meets a charming toymaker Blake Johnson (Matt Trudeau of General Hospital), who inspires her to find true happiness over the holidays. With more films in the works, our team is excited for what lies ahead in the coming years.

• ARDENT AFFECTION •
Our year was truly a time for lush fresh floral garlands. With an inspiration of ivory and slate blue, our clients Brittany and Mark were an absolute dream to work with and throughout our Design Experience, worked alongside our team (amid a move to another state!) to select individual floral varieties and an accent color of blush in a true pink hue rather than peach, which would bring their vision to life. With an elegant archway for their ceremony, Brittany selected a cascading bouquet, which told a story for their wedding design which would blend elements of modern style and more traditional design. David Austin garden roses were the highlight of this wedding design for our team, and we were excited to work with our favorite greens, including huckleberry and gunni eucalyptus, to provide a romantic atmosphere. Our team is truly blessed to work with clients like these, that trust in the process and allow our team to execute their vision in an artful way, as the results are always astonishing when they are crafted with care.

• FESTIVE FOLKLORE •
Our team was grateful to be asked again to be the official Christmas decorator for our friends at the Cherry Tree Inn Bed & Breakfast for the second year in a row. With such a fun space to design for, our team was up to the challenge to mix elements from Reporting For Christmas with a fresh take on the historical elements of the estate as one of the main set locations for the film Groundhog Day. With a twist on Mistletoads, our team selected a beautiful embroidered ribbon as the inspiration for our Folklore Holiday collection, which features rich red, burgundy, gold, olive and lime hues. From there, we considered a combination of micro and macro details for the design as the tree is viewed both on private tours of the inn and along with every angle from the street amid the parlor’s series of rotund windows. With sparkling ornaments in a variety of shapes taken from the ribbon, rustic elements of birdhouses and featured winter birds, and geometric beaded snowflakes, this design is easily one of the favorites from the and we encourage you to stop by the inn just off Woodstock Square and say hello to our friends Lori and George during a tour!

• MIDNIGHT VERDURE •
Our friends at Yazz Jazz hosted their annual showcase this year at Dury Lane, to announce the rebrand of their company to Yazz Events. With the addition of another live band, the Rhythm Makers, an urban ensemble specializing in soul, R&B and Funk, this elegant affair required an elevated design true to our company’s signature aesthetic. Creating centerpieces and cocktail arrangements with some of our team’s favorite pieces within our inventory, there will always be something special about candle rings and we see them again here with a mixture of elegant ruscus, eucalyptus and boxwood. Balancing the Dury’s impressive chandeliers, we brought this element down to the tables through the use of our cut crystal urns and glowing pillar candles. With such a fun mix a textures from the combination of seasonal winter greenery, our team made an excellent selection of design elements which was just enough to not steal the show from the night’s entertainment. • SUMMER SOLSTICE •
With a mixture of hot pink, tropical coral and citrus yellow, our team created another design concept to show that color above all else is what truly makes a memorable wedding and event design. As trends have leaned more towards pastels for the past several years, we love how the use our bold Shantung linen in lemon yellow allowed us to layer rich hues and play with an area of the color wheel we rarely see. Offset by a heavy influence of sparkling onyx, this late spring and early summer inspired contemporary design was something out of the ordinary. With an ombre of colored candles and beautiful garden pink toned roses, the garland from this tablescape and overall ambiance was truly spectacular.
